Seattle police release information on shooting

SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle police released information Thursday on the fatal shooting Tuesday evening of a 21-year-old man by officers responding to a report of the man holding a knife to his father's throat.

Police said dispatchers received two calls from brothers of Jack Keewatinawin about what one called a hostage situation at their north Seattle home.

The father moved to safety but as officers were trying to arrest Keewatinawin he threatened them with an 18-inch long piece of metal rebar. Three officers fired, killing him.

Police found the knife at the scene.

    I sure the father who brought the young man into the world could have took him out. just because the Po Po missed with the taserhe dead. I quess that where the training ends. I'd like to see large piece of metal.

    I do understand that you have Illiteracy, spelling & grammar issues but wake up a little. The guy’s own brothers called 911 saying that he was going to kill the father AND had him hostage. They said he was off his medication and was a psychopath. Two officers fired their Tasers however he had thick clothing and was out of control and did not stick making it not effective.

    There were 3 officers that shot, not just the 1 officer.

    Wake up! The family and the community did not care about this guy at all or they would have watched his issues a little closer. They did not do it and they didn’t do it before when he attacked another person making him a sexual predator!
