Castle Rock stays unbeaten, holds off Connell

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Melissa Utecht sank three throws in the final 25 seconds to lift unbeaten Castle Rock to a 46-42 quarterfinal win over Connell in the 1A girls state tournament on Thursday.

Tierney Uhlenkott led the Rockets (25-0) with 14 points, Maddi Seidl had 11 and a game-high 17 rebounds and Kenzie Dahl chipped in 10.

The Rockets led by 11, 40-29, midway through the fourth quarter before the Eagles (20-5) went on a 13-2 run to pull within 43-42 with 27 seconds left on a free throw by MarciAnne Hawkins. But the Eagles couldn't tie it late.

Michelle Schultz led Connell with 17 points.
