Seattle rolls past cold-shooting UTSA 53-37March 2, 2013 @ 6:54 pm
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Chad Rasmussen made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points, and Seattle snapped a five-game losing streak with a 53-37 victory over historically cold-shooting UTSA on Saturday night.
Clarence Trent added nine points and eight rebounds for the Redhawks (8-19, 3-14 Western Athletic), who never trailed.
The Roadrunners (8-20, 3-13), meanwhile, tied the school record for fewest points in a game. They trailed 29-11 at halftime _ a new UTSA record for fewest points in a half _ after shooting 15 percent from the floor and making only four field goals. UTSA's 22.6 percent shooting for the game set another school record.
Conference scoring leader Kannon Burrage and Jeromie Hill, two of the UTSA seniors playing their final home game, scored 15 points apiece and combined for 10 of UTSA's 12 field goals. The team total tied the school record.
Seattle avenged their 78-75 home loss to UTSA from Jan. 24. Both teams are trying to avoid a last-place finish ahead of the WAC tournament, which begins March 12.
