Small plane hits Wash. home; no serious injuries

EATONVILLE, Wash. (AP) - An Eatonville, Wash., fire official says a small plane flying from Oregon to Seattle crashed into a home Thursday evening but the pilot and passenger escaped with only minor injuries.

Fire Chief Bob Hudspeth says the two men were headed to a conference when they encountered rough weather over Eatonville and the pilot decided to land at a local airport. Hudspeth says the Cessna 172 landed instead in the yard of a home, then skidded into the front of the house, which was not occupied at the time.

The chief says the house sustained minor damage.

Hudspeth said he didn't know where in Oregon the flight originated. The men were not identified.

Eatonville police and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

Eatonville is about 50 miles south of Seattle.

    You really are not very smart... The Sheriff's Office will only secure the scene and the NTSB will conduct the investigation stupid. It is pretty much clear what happened; the plane crashed and a guy is dead and another is in critical condition. It is Sergeant West's job to answer all the incoming calls from dozens of media outlets and instead of wasting time speaking to each one it is much easier and time saving to send the photo and a press release once. Here she is saving time and being efficent and you are complaining about it. It is not her job to investigate but communicate with the media stupid.

    Is not a Cessna 172. Eatonville is a long way from Woodinville where the aircraft in the picture crashed many months ago. Sorry, MNW.com. You guys are fabricating stories again, not unlike the republican posters on this two bit site.
