Inslee signs stalking protection order billApril 27, 2013 @ 3:12 pm
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Gov. Jay Inslee has signed a measure to create a stalking protection order that was driven by the 2010 shooting death of an elementary school teacher in Tacoma.
Inslee signed the measure Saturday at Birney Elementary School, where Jennifer Paulson worked and was shot and killed by a man who was under an anti-harassment order to stay away from her.
The bill creates a new petition for a stalking protection order for any person who does not qualify for a domestic violence protection order. A violation of a stalking protection or no-contact order would be considered a gross misdemeanor.
The bill is House Bill 1383
