PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a Washington State Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Port Angeles hospital after his patrol car was severely damaged in a collision with several other vehicles on U.S. Highway 101.
The Peninsula Daily News reports ( http://is.gd/qKZFU4) that Clallam County Fire District No. 2 Assistant Chief Dan Huff says no one else was taken to a hospital after the crash Friday.
The trooper was not immediately identified.
Patrol spokesman Trooper Russ Winger tells KOMO-TV ( http://is.gd/Eo71qu) that the officer was driving on Highway 101 when he saw a car speeding in the opposite direction. Winger says the trooper turned around and was trying to catch up to the speeder when he lost control on a curve and crossed into the oncoming lane. The trooper reported back and neck pain.
