Man who set girlfriend on fire gets life in prison

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A 31-year-old Washington man convicted of setting his girlfriend on fire has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Pierce County prosecutor's office says Aaron Dukes' girlfriend suffered burns on about 12 percent of her body, including her face, in the January 2012 attack. Prosecutors say Dukes entered her home and poured rubbing alcohol on her before lighting her on fire.

A jury convicted Dukes of first-degree assault.

The prosecutor's office says Dukes has previous felony convictions.

The attack on his girlfriend represented his "third strike," which earned him a life sentence Friday.
