More above-normal temperatures for WashingtonMay 7, 2013 @ 5:33 am
SEATTLE (AP) - Temperatures hit record highs Monday in Western Washington.
The National Weather Service says the 87 at Sea-Tac Airport broke the old record for the date of 79 set in 1957. The 79 at Bellingham broke the record of 74 set in 1957. And the 86 at Olympia broke the 84-degree record, also set in 1957.
Forecasters say marine air moving inland will lower Western Washington temperatures, but they'll remain above-normal in the 70s this week. Forecasters also say the dry weather will continue until the weekend, when there's a chance of rain.
High temperatures will be in the 80s in Eastern Washington where melting snow is filling rivers. Forecasters say there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the mountains.
