Feds to review Snohomish County Jail medical careJune 13, 2013 @ 9:03 am
EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - The Justice Department will review operations and medical services at the Snohomish County Jail where seven inmates have died since 2010.
The Daily Herald reports ( http://bit.ly/196snQM) two of the deaths have resulted in legal claims alleging the inmates were denied basic medical care.
The review was requested by county executive John Lovick earlier this year when he was sheriff.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton says investigators will visit the jail this summer and interview staff and inmates.
The jail in Everett has about 1,200 inmates and a staff of about 340.
