Spokane church restores beheaded statue of Mary

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Just before Halloween in 2009 vandals beheaded a statue of Mary at the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto at Mount St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spokane.

The beheaded statue was stored away until recently when a Spokane couple cleaning out a rental property found the head and notified the church.

The pastor, Rev. Casimir Puskorius, told KHQ ( http://nbcnews.to/136o35o) the head was reattached Saturday and the statue will be put back in the grotto where it has stood watch since 1920. The half-ton marble statue was sculpted in France.
