King Co. corrections officer faces probation

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A King County juvenile corrections officer is facing probation after pleading guilty to assaulting his roommate last year and breaking the man's leg.

The Everett Herald reports ( http://bit.ly/18i1UTH) Snohomish County prosecutors aren't planning to recommend that 34-year-old Tyriff Rudder serve any more jail time. They will ask that he pay for his roommate's medical expenses.

He is scheduled for sentencing next week in Snohomish County.

On Friday, King County detention Cmdr. Williams Hayes said Rudder remains on paid administrative leave. He says an internal investigation into the incident is expected to move forward once Rudder has been sentenced.

The roommate said he'd been sleeping when Rudder came into his bedroom and put him in a "goose neck" hold. He told police the violence escalated and Rudder broke his leg.
