Man who fell on Wash. trail dies at scene

GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) - A Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman says a hiker who was injured in a fall on a trail west of Granite Falls, Wash., has died at the scene.

Spokeswoman Shari Ireton says family members reported the man fell about 12 feet.

A county helicopter and search and rescue ground team had been dispatched after relatives called for help Monday from the Robe Valley trail, just off Mountain Loop Highway.

The man was not immediately identified.
