Wash. man pleads guilty to murder, child rape

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Pierce County prosecutor says a 19-year-old Tacoma man has pleaded guilty to murder and child rape in the March death of a 2-year-old boy left in his care.

Jake Musga entered his pleas Monday.

Court records show the boy lived at an apartment complex with his mother and Musga. The mother was out of the home attending a party and left her son with her boyfriend.

The man was also accused of plying the child with alcohol. The toddler had a blood alcohol level of 0.12 and was covered in bruises. The legal intoxication threshold for drivers in Washington is .08.

As part of his plea, Musga admitted he killed the boy because the child had urinated on him.

Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said he would ask the judge for a sentence of 60 years to life. Sentencing was set for Nov. 21.
