Winlock youth pastor accused of child rape

CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) - A man who worked as a youth pastor in Winlock was charged Wednesday with child rape.

Michael D. Whitson, who now lives in Vancouver, is accused of raping a 12-year-old boy 10 years ago when Whitson worked for the Assembly of God church.

He was released on $25,000 bond and is due back in Lewis County Superior Court next Thursday.

The Chronicle reports ( that Whitson pleaded guilty in 2006 to assaulting a child with sexual motivation in a separate case and was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
