Wenatchee man dies on camping trip with brother

WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - The Chelan County sheriff's office says a man became fatally ill Tuesday on a camping trip with his brother in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

The brother borrowed a cell phone and hiked to a location on the trail where he could call for help.

A search and rescue helicopter was dispatched but the man was already dead when it landed at the camp near Nada Lake, nearly seven miles on the Snow Lakes Trail from the trailhead west of Leavenworth.

He's identified as 50-year-old Richard A. Ray of Wenatchee.
