3 escape, but 1 dies in Lacey home fire

LACEY, Wash. (AP) - The Lacey Fire District chief says a fire that swept through a Lacey home killed one person early Saturday morning, but three others managed to escape.

District chief Steve Brooks says the blaze was first reported around 6 a.m. Saturday. When crews arrived at the scene, Brooks says they found the home almost fully engulfed in flames.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports Sunday the fire crew were told a person was inside the home when they arrived, but Brooks says the fire made access difficult. Brooks says controlling the fire took about 20 minutes.

The Thurston County Coroner's office says the adult who died is presumed to be a woman. Positive identification through dental records is pending.
