SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Spokane police have identified five officers who fired their guns in last week's fatal shooting of a man described as an armed robbery suspect.
Police say they were Sgts. John Roys and Kevin Keller, and Officers Paul Buchmann, Sean Wheeler and Art Dollard.
Killed was 30-year-old Stephen Corkery.
The Spokesman-Review reports (http://is.gd/sgybl5 ) the north Spokane shooting happened after police attempted to negotiate the surrender of Corkery, who officers said has been implicated in 10 robberies of small businesses such as coffee stands, an ice cream parlor and a suntan salon.
When Corkery walked out the front door of the home with what appeared to be a handgun, the officers fired within seconds. The gun was later determined to be a pellet pistol.
