Spokane suspect apparently choked on drug bag

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Police say a Spokane hit-and-run suspect apparently tried to swallow a bag of drugs before his arrest.

The 36-year-old man had a medical emergency Wednesday while in custody and medics pulled a bag from his throat. The 36-year-old was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
