2 small wildfires creating heavy smoke in W. Wash.

MORTON, Wash. (AP) - Officials say a fire that started early Sunday morning in Capitol Forest had grown from 40 to 60 acres later in the day.

The state Department of Natural Resources says about 80 people, several engines and one helicopter were fighting the fire eight miles northwest of Littlerock.

The Olympian reports ( http://bitly.com/12ao8iV) that the fire was pushed to the east by winds of 5-10 mph.

Smoke is visible from the capitol city. An all-terrain-vehicle festival is happening in the forest this weekend and some roads and trails have been closed because of the fire.

Karen Ripley of the Department of Natural Resources says another small fire is burning on private timber land southeast of Centralia.

Ripley says firefighters are working on about 10 acres of burning patches within a 100-acre perimeter.

Ripley says there have been no evacuations or injuries from either fire.
