Seven people were injured when an SUV plowed into a salon in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood.
Six people were taken to Harborview Medical Center after rescue crews extricated three people, a father, mother, and 10-year-old daughter, trapped in a Greek restaurant next door, according to Seattle Fire spokesperson Kyle Moore.
An 8-year-old boy suffered minor burns and his mother complained of back pain. Both were taken to the hospital. A woman in her 40’s was treated at the scene and released.
City engineers are inspecting the structural integrity of the building, which has two large cracks. Crews installed a hydraulic brace to hold up the corner of the Carol Cobb Salon located at 4901 Rainier Ave S.
Carol Cobb, the building owner, told KING 5, “We just had went through a total remodel with Aveda and remodeled the whole salon, so to see this is like totally devastating.”
Seattle police are investigating the cause of the crash. Moore said the female driver did not have any visible injuries, but was taken to Harborview as a precaution.
Witnesses told officers they reported hearing the SUV’s engine revving just before it hit the building.
