Same-day voting and registering 16 -year-olds
on October 1, 2012 @ 8:43 pm (Updated: 8:35 am - 10/10/12 )
For the first time since the 1920s this state has a chance to put a female Republican into statewide office. Her name is Kim Wyman. She's actually run elections before. Her opponent has watched other people run elections before. Democrat Kathleen Drew wants the state to start a program (translation: spend time and resources) on pre-registering 16 year olds to vote. Wyman thinks we should focus on people who can actually vote. Drew wants same-day voter registration due to her conviction that the people we should most cater to are those who finally give their civic duty a thought on election day and no other. Wyman thinks some basic ballot security provisions deserve priority.
