NRA: Obama hypocrite on security for kids

Check out this new ad from the NRA. What do you think? Do they have a point?

My first reaction: I don't find it overly effective. I think it makes a partial point, but by over playing it's hand, it diminishes its effectiveness and seems like just more noise on the subject. I like the fact it brings up the point at how armed security is good for some but not for we the riff-raff, there's just something bland about this one that's not doing it for me. Anyway, let me know what you think...

    AND, he'll use kids as a back drop, just so we all know it's 'for the kids'. ..... Remember, no matter what, that GUNS are the problem. Never people. Clips and 'assault' weapons will be the first targets. Never mind that a Colt revolver or a Winchester repeater rifle would seem 'assault' weapons to the 18th century owner of a musket. Never mind that - like designer drugs - new and different inventions will always be found to circumvent any law. ... And never mind that the crazy of most od the world kill far more each year (and most attacks) WITHOUT guns - bombs work just fine, thank you.

    And never mind that the founding fathers inserted that 'Bill of Rights' into the Constitution specifically because in time of troubles EVERYTHING therein would be a target of government to restrict or eliminate in the name of security. ... Everything. ... Religion. ... Assembly ... Speech ... the Press.

    No, we will not wake up tomorrow under a dictatorship. But every day we loose a few more freedoms. And is this for true - or false - security?

    You couldn't be more clueless. Not once has Obama blamed the gun. Nor has any serious person that is worried about violence commited with guns. We folks who actually use our brains to think with know that a gun by itself is no more capable of harming someone than a picture hanging on the wall. The problem is when people interact with (or fail to interact with) guns. We want common sense discussions about ALL contributing factors that are part of gun violence. 1 + 1 = 2 (people + guns = potential for violence) to everyone on this issue except for the gun zealots. Gun zealots want to make us think that we want math like this: 0 + 1 = 2 (guns by themselves = violence). We aren't selling that kind of math. Neither is the President. And lo and behold - he didn't propose ANYTHING that didn't take into account ALL of the issues involved.

    It is an unfortunate fact but the President's kids are potential targets way over and above your average school kid. I presume the NRA wants all commercial airliners to have missile defense systems on them because Air Force One has them.

    Hypocrites? The Republican National Convention was a gun free zone.

    The NRA is just proving that they have jumped the shark and demonstrating why I quit several years ago. It is harder to get a truck load of fertilizer without scrutiny than enough weapons to arm a platoon.

    Going to have to call your bs on this one. Zero presidents kids have been killed in schools...regular folks kids have been killed in schools...so your fighting against the actual statistical facts.

    Obama is a hypocrite if he won't allow the same level of protection for the prolotariat kids as his bourgeoisie class kids. Guess he's still working on establishing that marxist america he wants and we should just learn to accept it.

The President's family is in far, far greater danger than your family or mine simply because the President has control of much of what happens in this country. you and I don't. If the President's children weren't protected so carefully, the President would be at risk of being blackmailed, controlled, 'revenged against' by anyone with a grudge against him or America. Anyone with at least the intelligence of a MORON can see the difference between 'joe average's kids' and 'the President's family'. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that apparently can't tell the difference. And oh, by the way, the President DID include that the feds should help with any school district that wants more 'resource officers' (aka armed guards), so there's even more proof that he's not the 'hypocrite' for you folks who can't tell the difference between the risks to 'joe average's kids' and the President's family...

    Here is what you can't seem to grasp...I'm not calling for the president's children to be protected less...but democrats ARE calling for our children to be protected less.

    Wanting some kids protected and others not is a part of the democrat war on children. Why do you progressives hate children so much? Isn't it enough that you're piling up over $100k in debt for each of them so you can live a wreckless lifestyle? Do you also insist on them being at greater risk of violence as well?

    You're missing the point. Why should ONLY Obama's kids be protected from school shooters? That's where Obama's hypocrisy is...he's not willing to let our children be as protected as his. Put down the koolaid and think.

    If having armed guards at schools is a bad idea why are there guards at the school Obama's kids attend? Aren't they at higher risk from the guards? One must conclude so given all the tripe the left has been spewing.

    A gun free zone is a magical thinking zone.A Teacher (or teachers)could easily be equipped with a hidden gun.In special places a (gasp) AR-15 could be used , using smart technology "a special ring or an R.F.I.D solution" for a long time now school's have been a target of nut's wrath.The argument that having a solution to school shootings would turn a school into a "armed camp" is pure hyperbole.
