Best Superbowl ad: The Farmer

I know some prefer the Taco Bell ad featuring senior citizens having sex in restroom stalls, but I, for one, found that ad to be... to put it kindly... repulsive.

I don't even think it was a contest. I thought the "farmer" ad with Paul Harvey was the one time when marketers remembered that you don't always have to be loud to be heard.

The extended speech:

Paul Harvey is beloved and classic
and I originally expressed this as my favorite ad and the Clydesdale reunion as my second but I can't help myself, the more I hear "...if you see my reflection" and that big brown blazed leviathan lumbers into view,I cry. As for the senior Taco Bell ad, didn't Ron Howard already make that movie??? (yeah, I know the Bud ad has been accused of being a ripoff of the Lion named Christian reunion but it is still way betta)

    Why didn't Dodge just say...
..."This is the kind of truck that Jesus would drive, and if you don't too, you're not a real American"? I didn't see any images of farmers picking up their PIK checks or dumping surplus milk on the ground when millions are starving worldwide. I didn't see any farmers lobbying for price supports or direct subsidies, nor did I see any farmers begging not to have their illegal alien workforce deported.

    Great ad and also appropriate.
Paul Harvey was the master of seamlessly weaving commercials into his news an comment. And now the reverse has happened.

I thought this farmer advertisement was a bulls-eye shot
at the Republicons in the House of Representatives that callously killed the farm bill last year when the farmers were suffering from the worst drought they experienced in decades.

Why is it that the left, no matter WHAT the story - no matter how inspiring
No matter what the feel good feeling - can always find a dark side.

D, you must live a bitter existence if you can never see the bright side of life.

You can ignore the fact that the Republitards screwed over the farmers last year
    but the farmers won't.

    Paul Harvey could have
Read the ingredients off of a can of Spam and made it sound good. His voice brings back a better place and time in my memory.

I recall listening to Paul Harvey on the radio while I was in Southeast Asia during The Gulf War.
Hearing his voice was therapeutic. Our team always smiled at one another after listening to his wisdom each day at noon on AFR. Armed Forces Radio.

He had an AWESOME piece about using the Neutron bomb!

Farmers need to be separated into two categories.
Crop farmers who can take time off and only have to hit it hard during planting and harvest season versus dairy farmers who work every day, daylight to dark, 365 days a years. Dairy cows don't even take Christmas day off. Dairy farmers are incredibly hard working people. Beef farmers also have an easier summer while the cattle are on the pasture.
