President Obama demands sequestration cuts

Yesterday President Obama gave a national speech villifying Republicans for upcoming sequestration cuts which were his idea in the first place. The Washington Examiner provided this reminder:

D - the fact that Congress & the Republicans overwhelmingly approved the sequestration deal matters not to Boze or to the Republicans like Boehner that Boze gets his talking points from. They think that blindly blaming Obama for everything can win them points (which is hilarious because these very same people complain ad nauseum whenever they think Obama is blaming Bush for things gone wrong today).

Ah yes,,, the 'blame Obama' game...
Boze, you need to stop getting your talking points from the Republicans and start thinking for yourself. It's a very liberating experience when you start thinking for yourself. This one is (as usual) full of excrement. CONGRESS approved the plan. I'd bet great odds that Boehner himself even voted FOR it. Obama couldn't sign it until CONGRESS approved it. And that includes the Republicans in the House approving it - so to try to blame Obama is lamer than trying to lay the blame for the recession solely on Bush (which sooo many of the right get outraged when they think that a lefty is doing that...)

Congress approved it, but Obama demanded it. . .
President Obama on the sequester cuts - November 21, 2011 “My message to them is simple: No. I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts to domestic and defense spending. There will be no easy off ramps on this one." So to say Obama is totally clear of any blame, and that it's all the Republicans fault is a crock. He clearly pushed for these cuts. Both sides put this deal in place, and both sides have failed to work past it since.

Obama should get his share of the blame - but this demagogery that Boze and the right wing are playing is a flat out lie on this one. The Republicans are at a minimum at least equally responsible. For them to point fingers (Boze included) is plain foolish. The Republicans have had over a year to pass a plan to solve this problem. All they do is whine and complain. Congress (both parties) haven't put something in front of Obama to call his bluff - so they are just as dirty.

This was Obama's plan. Now it's come back to bite him in the Assss. BTW- didn't a barry get his tax increase? And ones anybody think Harry Reid and the fools in the Democraticly incompetent Senate will pass a budget in the next 4 years?

No one is arguing that it wasn't Obama's plan - however to blame him EXCLUSIVELY is about as stupid as anything I've ever heard. AND the Republicans and the right wing are trying it. It's just like your attempt at deflecting towards things that dems havent' done so we won't think about the fact that the 'blame it all on Obama' trick is an outright lie (everyone involved in passing the sequestration bill AND EVERYONE who's not done squat to fix it is equally responsible). and the basic concept here that Boze and much of the right wing can't get with this blame game is it takes two to tango. Obama's idea would have died if REPUBLICANS hadn't overwhelmingly voted for it.

So of course they wouldn't know that Obama demanded the automatic cuts. And they also wouldn't realize that Obama was lying about first responders...fire fighters are not federal government employees.

Oh ho ho ho, you're so funny
Like the LIV's aren't the electoral base of the Republican party. Republicans tend to be single issue voters, whether it's anti-choice, bible thumpers, homophobes, anti-immigrationists...well you get the picture right? Republicans are nothing more than warm bodies who provide votes based on fear.

I'm sure there are plenty of LIV's in the republican fold as well...but it seems much more widespread in the democrat party. I've lost count on how many democrat voters that have told me personally that their source of "news" is Jon Stewart.

By anti-choice I'm guessing you're referring to anti-abortion. I'll accept your characterizing the anti-abortion position as anti-choice if you're willing to accept the pro-abortion position being called the pro-murder position. Deal?

And just as I proved the sgt wrong the same facts prove you wrong. I know republicans that vote on more than fear. It must suck to be wrong all the time...I guess that's why progressives are always in denial.

The fact that you know people who watch the Daily Show
is not proof of anything. Like most libertarians you fail to provide actual convincing reasoning, but I do understand that as a libertarian you never feel a need to do that. I don't make deals with the loony right. Even when abortion was illegal it was only a misdemeanor. I thought you had a dictionary handy since you're always ranting about the meanings of words. Your last statement was just strange. You didn't use a single fact in your entire post other than you know republicans that vote on mroe than fear. That's nothing to brag about.

Umm, if democrats are low information voters, you do realize then that republicans are merely voting based on the fear and hate they are told to have by thier leaders, right?

Really? Humm...well, I know a few republicans, and I know for a fact that fear and hate aren't their only motivation, so I know for another fact you are simply wrong. It must be sad to be a low information voter such as yourself.

    President Obama the Demagogue
A demagogue (/ˈdɛməɡɒɡ/) or rabble-rouser is a political leader in a democracy who appeals to the emotions, prejudices, and ignorance of the less-educated people of a population in order to gain power. Demagogues usually oppose deliberation and advocate immediate, violent action to address a national crisis; they accuse moderate and thoughtful opponents of weakness. Demagogues have appeared in democracies since ancient Athens. They exploit a fundamental weakness in democracy: because ultimate power is held by the people, nothing stops the people from giving that power to someone who appeals to the lowest common denominator of a large segment of the population.

    Isn't your argument
kind of "I know you are but what am I" sounding? The whole issue is that president and his press are blaming Republicans (unlike what you said above) for his plan. Projection is the top choice in the D playbook: Cause a problem or have an idea to do something, then when there is backlash, blame an R.

From what I've seen the Republicans have been playing the blame game from day 1 - even before Obama had a chance to have his policies enacted, let alone leaving time for his policies to actually have an effect on anything. Go back and look at the tapes from the talking heads on Fox like ol' Beck and good ol' OReilly and you'll see them telling thier viewers starting at the end of the first two weeks of his administration (back in 2009) that his policies were already failures. Although some of these right wing talking heads did wait until the end of his first 6 weeks in office to start calling his policies failures... So don't give me the 'dems are this or that' crap - take an honest look at your own side before you lay the hypocrite speech on us ok? (btw - I'm not refuting that dems can be and often are hypocrites - I'm just pointing out that it's not exclusively a dem problem - so you can't claim the high road).

I don't think it is just a Dem problem
so please save the hypocrite speak for now, ok? But I do have issue with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and countless others who blame Republicans for problems they cause. They have been in control of more legs of government for many years now, and when will they own up to their faults?

    Grand Bargain
Boehner risked political suicide to quietly negotiate a grand bargain with Obama - which they BOTH agreed to. That contained significant cuts and notable revenue increases. The problem was Obama suddenly saw something shinier (but unworkable) from the gang of six and withdrew the deal. Boehner tried to resurrect the bargain after the election, but Obama's stance was 'hey I won so the deal has new rules'.
