Washington to Bill Gates: ‘We’re taking it all’

I spoke to Ivy Knightscales of SAFE (Standing Against Foreclosures and Eviction) about their protests of Burien’s Ordinance 621 which seeks to get control over what citizens describe as aggressive, dangerous or disruptive behavior of some people at public parks and the library. Issues include unsanitary use of the bathrooms, odor, and aggression toward other patrons.
Burien took “body odor” out of their list of prohibited behaviors because, unbeknownst to me, our founding fathers inserted “the constitutional right to smell of human waste in a public library” into our Constitution. Yet, for “homeless advocates” any restrictions were essentially a war on the homeless and poor.
Ms. Knightscales said the problem with our society is the rich getting richer. I asked what she would do for Washington if she had the power, in regards to Bill Gates’ money. How much should he be allowed to keep? She said he was the beneficiary of tax breaks and therefore should have every one of his billions of dollars redistributed for the public good.
Would this end our homeless problem?
