Eleven months exist between now and the first presidential primary and yet the first announcement for the presidency was made Monday.

Ted Cruz announced at Liberty University on Monday that he will be making a run for president.

What he is trying to do is get ahead of the pack. He’s trying to separate himself, get a bit of attention. This will be his time in the limelight by jumping ahead of others in the line.

Surprisingly, the City of Seattle is joining him on the stage.

If you look at the launch video, Seattle is featured in his 30 second campaign launch ad.

I actually rewound it three times just to make sure. I thought that looks like the Smith Tower. That is the Smith Tower.

I wonder how many people will catch it because it doesn’t feature the iconic landscape of Seattle, with images of the waterfront skyline or the Space Needle.

My guess is that’s stock footage of the city. I don’t think necessarily it’s chosen for any specific reason.

But it seems interesting that Seattle was one of the first cities depicted because if there ever was a city that has no interest in a Cruz candidacy, it’s Seattle.
