Is Santorum poised for 2016?
April 16, 2012 @ 4:50 pm
On Q13 this morning, I was asked if I thought Rick Santorum was poised to be the front runner of 2016. Of course, this requires Obama to win reelection, or Romney would be the incumbent.
I don't see it. Santorum's rise seems to be more a function of the grassroots' hesitancy to embrace Romney. When Romney dispatched with Gingrich, Santorum was basically the last man standing and ran with it. He did better than almost anyone thought. Heck, I think he did better than HE thought he would. He had conviction and the courage to back them up. People appreciated that about him. But I don't sense an eagerness that Santorum be the future standard-bearer. A lot of new rising GOP stars will be more seasoned by then and should be entering the mix.
What do you think?
PS. If you watch the video: 1. I KNOW, forgot to wear a V-neck t-shirt! 2. Unfortunately, the video does not show the expression of Bill when I said "heaven forbid" Obama get a second term. :-)
