Is Santorum poised for 2016?

On Q13 this morning, I was asked if I thought Rick Santorum was poised to be the front runner of 2016. Of course, this requires Obama to win reelection, or Romney would be the incumbent.

I don't see it. Santorum's rise seems to be more a function of the grassroots' hesitancy to embrace Romney. When Romney dispatched with Gingrich, Santorum was basically the last man standing and ran with it. He did better than almost anyone thought. Heck, I think he did better than HE thought he would. He had conviction and the courage to back them up. People appreciated that about him. But I don't sense an eagerness that Santorum be the future standard-bearer. A lot of new rising GOP stars will be more seasoned by then and should be entering the mix.

What do you think?

PS. If you watch the video: 1. I KNOW, forgot to wear a V-neck t-shirt! 2. Unfortunately, the video does not show the expression of Bill when I said "heaven forbid" Obama get a second term. :-)

    If Obama wins 2012, maybe
Let's say Obama wins 2012. (Not a certainty by any stretch- it's really too soon to tell).

The GOP might say, "well, trying to beat a Democrat with a moderate Republican didn't work out so well- so we're going as far right as we possibly can in 2016." If Obama wins 2012, putting up an extremist candidate in 2016 will simply ensure 12 consecutive years of Democrat presidents, if not a full 16.

There will be no point in running for President as there will be nothing left to save by 2016. We're finished as the nation we currently are if The One is re-elected.

Romney slapped Santorum with a capitalistic lesson
The Republicon nomination for president in the ultimate free market world must be bought, and Romney has the receipt with Paid in Full stamped right on it.

Obama's second largest donor last time was Goldman Sachs. Do you see any less banking cartel members in the OBAMA treasury dept than you did under the last one?

    You are half right...

    Rick 2016!
I am hoping that if Rick Santorum decides to run in 2016, he has a better organized and better funded campaign. He is a great man with a great message that can actually relate to your everday American.

    I hope so
I want Rick, Michelle, Herman, and Rick Perry all to talk to God again and have God tell them all to run again. The comic relief was wonderful this year. Thank you Jesus!

He is the Republican version of Howard Dean. Too far away from the center to garner any lasting support.

Hey this could be your signature look. Like Santorum's sweater vest. I LIKE IT! It's very unassuming regular guy look.

    "What do you think?" (Santorum)

Good luck, but most importantly, goodbye...

"PS. If you watch the video:"

The collar of your T-shirt didn't bother me, the questions did. They were pretty much the typical meatless distractions you see on all network news. 'Will some newsdrone's burbling about Romney's wife affect the election?' Meh... What tripe, gimme a break.

That said, you did fine considering the material. And it's cool to see the Boze get some more airtime.

This years GOP runup was more fun than I can remember from any past election season. You finally had all those candidates up on a stage that really didnt seem to want the job in the first place? Do we all recall how long it took for every one to even "declare"? No passion from any of them None. Mitt has campaigned like he's running for high school student body president. Santorum leant more credibility but dont dial him in for 2016. The dumb voters dont understand how much it costs just to hit the road and campaign for a year plus. You dont just throw your hat into the ring again..Contributions for another try will NOT be at the same level as they were for the first run. Unless you're Dino Rossi (By the way, anyone heard from him lately?) you cant just keep throwing 5hit against the wall and pouring money down the rathole...
