Bonneville Seattle is raising funds for the construction of a second Fisher House at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma and we need your help.

Thugs in Black

Once again we are treated to property-destroying protestors in Seattle. You can see the self-righteousness in their faces (those that are not covered up) as they scream in the faces of police and taunt in hopes of getting a policeman to do something angry on tape.

I was watching TV coverage and I kept hearing reminders that "there is only a small minority of protestors damaging property and being violent." But how many others are providing a screen for these scum? How many will point out and testify against those who destroy property and then change their costumes? And why is it these left-wing protests so often result in property destroying arrests, while tea-party like protests result in law abiding behavior in which the overwhelming masses are smeared with evil behavior?

The "anarchists" are not really anarchists. They demand police protection and rights and will be the first to lawyer up when their sticks and clubs are taken. They are really anti-capitalist and would-be dictators.

How do we maintain the right to protest if hi-jacked ???
David, while that minority may not be as small as some would have us believe, those bent on violence are certainly not the majority of those marching today in various groups. And, agree or likely disagree with them, most protesters are not interested in how much glass they can shatter. .. But how to stop the anarchists ? (and they actually are - no anarchist in history has ever rejected laws in their own interest). ........... Ultimately, the only way is to have the group itself weed out the loonies, but when loonies make common cause, that is hard to do - and most honest protesters are not that organized in the first place. .................. Just a suggestion - the police should target those covering their faces ans especially those in the all black 'uniforms' the anarchic idiots usually seem to favor. Zap them quick, and remove them. ... Then let the rest go on - without much more than an excuse me, mam. Probably shock the heck out of the honest protesters. .. Beat the heck out of bash'em all.

Wow Dave, I thought that on this one, you'd be honest and fair...
But you proved me wrong Dave. You used your typical 'blame the lefties' attitude and right wing mantra. Should we use the same logic that you do to blame lefties for the violence and destruction that frequently comes with SPORTS TEAMS winning championships? The Riots and near Riots like that happen during championship celebrations, so it's gotta be the lefties fault right? Lefties are part of the crowd, so they must be responsible for aiding and abetting if not actually causing it themselves.... IT's not all a left wing anti-what your kind wants conspiracy. It's a small handfull of t u rds in a punchbowl causing problems for the rest of us, and nothing more. Be honest Boze, be honest.

That's the perfect description. I don't think Dave is blaming the "lefties" for the vandalism. He just asked the question of why these things seem to happen at left wing protests. It's unfortunate that incidents like this overshadow any message that the protest is trying to send. Not that I agree with the message, but now it loses all credibility to me. That and the fools running around in clown outfits.

    Lighten up a bit Dave..
If you could find even one of these babes with bats to drag into an interview, you,ll likely find that they don't really qualify as left or right or anything. The majority of these so called protesters are down and outters..No desire to live in America or ANY country that simply doesn't hand it out to them for free. Party animals who are always looking for one. They hate for the sake of hating. Few have ever likely lived anywhere else except here. None have been exposed first hand to 3rd world poverty or dictatorship. Dave, they're not left, right, socialists or hard line conservatives. They are not debating on any front other than the fact that life's not fair and this is the country that's not fair to them, because they happen to be in it. So they go bust up a business or two and are left believing that they now have an even bigger fan club as a result..

To claim the couple of percent of violent idiots typified the thousands of protestors....
makes no more sense than to claim the following idiots typify Tea Partiers. (Both claims try to create stereotypes based on the most extreme examples).

These people do not represent the majority of tea partiers, but they are tea partiers nonetheless:

HOWEVER - because they were present does NOT make them part of the group who organized the march. ANYONE can show up and be present - the Tea Party could have showed up and marched if they wanted to. Doesn't make the tea party part of the Occupy or other May Day March organizing groups.

The only reason these guys don't show up at Tea Party protests is they dont' have tricorn hats to wear.

Seriously, if the baggers were marching in the streets, I bet these b00bs would show up too.

Dave, do you have any evidence the protesters were intentionally providing screening for the vandals? I was hearing news reports in the media that seemed to indicate the vandals were being pointed out by other protesters.

BTW, Those on the right that want to use a broad brush and include the anarchists with the other peaceful demonstrators....well you have Tim McVeigh.

...and just why does the profanity filter not let me say b00bs?

"They didn't dress in black for that event." ---- However, they did dress up to hide thier real identities. It's amazing how many right wingers try so hard to connect anarchist violence to liberals when they name thier own group 'TEA PARTY' after an act of violence against a corporation.

Why Bother Dragging the Tea Party Into This?
Face it lefties, your causes attract the maggots. So far, it seems the worst thing to happen at the various tea-party events was a spirited debate in Milwaukee as to whether a used pizza box went into the garbage or recycling bin. In spite of that "mayhem", they seemed to get a few candidates on the ballot and elected. The proud OWS legacy will be broken glass, damaged automobiles and frightened bystanders. It makes me wonder if left-leaners are just useless or useful idiots of some sinister plot.

For Hamsterama, who doesn't do nuance..
nobody is blaming this on the Tea Party. David Boze brought the Tea Party into the discussion in his original comment, trying to contrast the behavior of the tea partiers with the protestors- and then drawing some broad left vs right conclusion. (That's disappointing, I thought he was smarter than that).

The most extreme members of the tea party and the most extreme members of the protest march both behaved in reprehensible fashion. You don't need to destroy property to act disgracefully (follow the video link).

Boze is willing to claim the peaceful, civil majority typify the tea partiers, but tries to suggest the out-of-control minority fringe typifies the May Day marchers.

Boze asks "And why is it these left-wing protests so often result in property destroying arrests, while tea-party like protests result in law abiding behavior in which the overwhelming masses are smeared with evil behavior?" I would venture to guess that it's because Left wing protests are anti-capitalist, while "tea-party" protests are corporate bought(and paid for) buffoons being played by the likes of millionaire Dick Armey and his billionaire buddies David and Charles Koch--are pro-capitalist and indistinguishable from the GOP. Congratulations Dave on discovering the "anarchists" are anti-capitalist!

You write "Only some sort of clueless sheep turns out to "protest" without a clearly defined issue or cause and thinks violently engaging the police creates compelling political argument." I agree! What Boze and corporate media is about is not discussing economic inequality and the May Day holiday, it's about re-directing the conversation to become broken windows. Why? Because it's not in their $elf-intere$t and retaining the status-quo is.
