Primary BALLOT HELP
July 30, 2012 @ 11:28 pm (Updated: 4:46 pm - 8/1/12 )
Folks ask me where they can get information on primary races regularly this time of year, so I thought I'd give you some links to help you out. I consider myself a conservative and a Republican, so I vote accordingly. In primary races, sometimes it's still hard to sort out who's best. I'm not going to do it for you, but I will provide you with some places to start gleaning information and I'll provide a few endorsements of my own.
Washington Farm Bureau's endorsements are here.
National Federation of Independent Business is here and here.
Find out about Judicial Candidates here. (Hat tip: Freedom Foundation)
Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction info is here.
The Progressive Voter Guide is here (I find sites like this handy to learn who I want to vote for the least. :-) )
Pastor Joe Fuiten provides his picks here.
Family Policy Institute of Washington provides information here. (This site is a bit user unfriendly, but it does cover a lot of races.)
Special Notes:
1. I'll proudly vote for my brother-in-law Steve O'Ban in the 28th Legislative District of Tacoma. He's a hard working, serious man with an impressive history of fighting and winning for conservative causes in court. Even if I didn't know him personally, I'd be endorsing him, but knowing his character personally makes it even easier.
2. I'll be voting to return Richard Sanders to the Supreme Court. I think there was an absolute smear job against him last time around and for that alone, I'd vote for him. But he is also a solid friend of property owners. It would be nice to see Sanders returned to serve one final term and leave office on his own (and voting property owners') terms.
3. John Koster in the 1st Congressional District (the new one!)--I've known John since I was in high school. He is a hardworking man intent on serving the people and the cause of liberty.
UPDATE: I can see from the comment section there is some confusion by what I meant by my being a conservative and a Republican and voting accordingly. I started to write about when I vote for the occasional Democrat, but it was late and I figured I had posted it many times over the years, so I skipped it.
In a nutshell, there are times when I will vote for a Democrat if I think that Democrat is best suited for the job or if the only real selection is among Democrats. For example, I've vote for a Democrat for State Auditor many times. Tim Sheldon, a conservative Democrat, would get my vote for State Senate (or just about anything else he ran for). But it's rare. I almost always vote Republican, but it's not out of "blind allegiance" as asserted by some of the lefties below, but because I have considered the philosphical approaches to issues taken by both parties and find Republicans closer to what I think is best. Okay--now you know, feel free to continue to insult away.
