Primary BALLOT HELP

Folks ask me where they can get information on primary races regularly this time of year, so I thought I'd give you some links to help you out. I consider myself a conservative and a Republican, so I vote accordingly. In primary races, sometimes it's still hard to sort out who's best. I'm not going to do it for you, but I will provide you with some places to start gleaning information and I'll provide a few endorsements of my own.

Washington Farm Bureau's endorsements are here.

National Federation of Independent Business is here and here.

Find out about Judicial Candidates here. (Hat tip: Freedom Foundation)

Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction info is here.

The Progressive Voter Guide is here (I find sites like this handy to learn who I want to vote for the least. :-) )

Pastor Joe Fuiten provides his picks here.

Family Policy Institute of Washington provides information here. (This site is a bit user unfriendly, but it does cover a lot of races.)

Special Notes:

1. I'll proudly vote for my brother-in-law Steve O'Ban in the 28th Legislative District of Tacoma. He's a hard working, serious man with an impressive history of fighting and winning for conservative causes in court. Even if I didn't know him personally, I'd be endorsing him, but knowing his character personally makes it even easier.

2. I'll be voting to return Richard Sanders to the Supreme Court. I think there was an absolute smear job against him last time around and for that alone, I'd vote for him. But he is also a solid friend of property owners. It would be nice to see Sanders returned to serve one final term and leave office on his own (and voting property owners') terms.

3. John Koster in the 1st Congressional District (the new one!)--I've known John since I was in high school. He is a hardworking man intent on serving the people and the cause of liberty.

UPDATE: I can see from the comment section there is some confusion by what I meant by my being a conservative and a Republican and voting accordingly. I started to write about when I vote for the occasional Democrat, but it was late and I figured I had posted it many times over the years, so I skipped it.

In a nutshell, there are times when I will vote for a Democrat if I think that Democrat is best suited for the job or if the only real selection is among Democrats. For example, I've vote for a Democrat for State Auditor many times. Tim Sheldon, a conservative Democrat, would get my vote for State Senate (or just about anything else he ran for). But it's rare. I almost always vote Republican, but it's not out of "blind allegiance" as asserted by some of the lefties below, but because I have considered the philosphical approaches to issues taken by both parties and find Republicans closer to what I think is best. Okay--now you know, feel free to continue to insult away.

    Lol,

People ask you? No wonder the conservative base has gone to the dogs. Talk about unbiased reporting. I'm a republican and follow the party line when I vote so here's the links that I think will halp you tow the party line as well.

Vote for the party and not the candidate just like me, look I am successful and it will make you successful too.

    It has? Wow!

Fine, SP, just be ready to hear that song, "Who let the Dogs out" blaring ALL DAY LONG on Tuesday the 6th of November 2012.

That day will be the Dear Leaders ultimate Shellacking. Oh oh oh!!!

Mr. Boze; for how many Democrats will you vote in the Primary Election?
Any independent thinker should be able to find at least a few candidates from both parties that seem to be the best available choices.

I like the new election system better. I really hated being locked out of primary elections because I wasn't willing to vote Straight D or Straight R.

    Blind Allegence..
to a party, red or blue demonstrates a lazy voter. Uninspired and unwavering by any other viewpoint than the one that's stuck in their brain. Considering yourself a "consrvative and a republican" or a blue blood liberal just to give you a fast track down the ballot is inexcusable.

Seems to be that we are stuck with the current system, Chuck. I think there is a defiant difference between a Democrat and a Liberal. Just like Republican and a Conservative. Yes the lines get blurred in the hotly political discourse that occurs here on the boards and abroad.

Will Mr. Boze vote for anyone other than Republican or Conservative? I don't know. Ask him. I will look at the materials he posted, along with others, then make up my mind.

I do hope that people who share my values and convictions are elected to office. Obviously from my post, the current government does not share my values or desire for my nation and it and my future.

This is one of the most well-considered and intelligent posts you have ever submitted.

    Yea I know Chuck.
Every now and then I have to raise the bar that I, on purpose, put where it is so I can, occasionally, make posts like this as not to make others feel TOO bad about themselves!

    Arrogance a little?

Justice Sanders is probably one of the most fair minded people ever to sit on the Court.
Always got, and continues to get, support from all sides of the political spectrum. At least from those who favor rights over political hack.

The sudden shaft he got near the end of the last election was really a personal vendetta by one Seattle Times reporter, so close to the voting that not even the personal re-endorsement by Lem Howell could reclaim the vote.

Hopefully, fairness will prevail this time to return a truly fair justice to the State Supreme Court.

    need some help on Supremes
Hey Dave, I hope you are still reading the comments. The link you provided seems to be a nice glossy version of the voter's pamphlet. Can you point to a conservative website that actually endorses and gives reasons for doing so? I want to vote against Sanders because he was part of the unruly mob that voided over 500 murder cases that resulted from an assault. I couldn't disagree more with that decision and to me it is activism to overturn a law that has been on the books since the state was founded. I do like him otherwise, but taking crime serious is as important to me as the abortion issue. Innocent life must be protected by the state. Guilty life, not so much.

looks like David isn't getting back on this, but...........
that ruling had me scratching my head, too. But we ARE now in line with most of the rest of the states regarding assault v murder. I guess if you follow the exact nature of the law, you're not going to be popular with every decision. And I don't see that as activism to narrow a law.

But, if you like Justice Sanders otherwise, do vote for him. Whatever fault there may have been, the alternatives are much more activist, and not in a good way.

    Still not sold
So, now you can beat the crap out of someone and if they die you get charged the same as if they didn't, assault. Maybe manslaughter, but that will get pleaded down to assault. There is no longer any reason to control yourself. It's just plain stupid, whether or not other states agree. My problem is when something has been around for 100 years and all of a sudden they find the hidden piece of constitution that overturns it. I can see a new law that hasn't been tested and they vote contrary to my opinion. When the law has been on the books that long and they change it to suit contemporary president in other states they are legislating from the bench. I don't care if it is a libertarian, republican or democrat. I just want the constitution to mean something. It's not a guideline. It's the supreme law of the land.
