Bonneville Seattle is raising funds for the construction of a second Fisher House at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma and we need your help.

Paul Ryan is in

Unconfirmed reports came in last night around 9pm and this morning we learned they were true. Paul Ryan is Mitt's running mate. Paul Ryan is the visionary young congressman who has been bold enough to put forward big ideas regardless of "sacred cow" status. He's put forward plans for real entitlement reform and a simplified tax code of two rates. He's articulate, serious and unflappable. By choosing him, Romney is sending a clear message that he's running to do something not just be something.

America needs a little R&R.

PS. Right now, Joe Biden is saying, "I can take him Barack! I can take him." And the entire Obama campaign is saying, "No, you can't!"

"Left wing hate filled howler monkey-parrots begin the attacks!!!!!!" --------It's amazing that the right wing thinks that a hate filled howler monkey-parrot attack is ok coming from a right winger, but not from a left winger. Amazing.... And the pick of Ryan for VP will stir the right wing tea party and the masses of the right wing, but it will also stir up the independents and lefties AGAINST him. He's part of the extremist republican/tea party cabal that brings congress down to less than 1/4 the approval rating of Obama! The dems will have a field day showing the country how bad a pick Ryan is. This is gonna be fun.

Yes, David, but I'd rather the other R had been from Florida.
Yes, I know Paul Ryan was an aide once to Jack Kemp. And learned some great budgetary ideas. I hope, though, he learned a bit of Jack's heart as well.

With enough heart, cold logic can be as appealing as a hot holiday dinner. And that's why Jack - and Ronald Reagan - were such a success.

Moves Romney more to the right. Did he need more votes from the right?
Between the people who were going to vote *for* Mitt Romney and the people who are simply going to vote *against* Barack Obama, I would have thought the right end of the spectrum was pretty well sewn up for Romney.

I tend to run conservative on most fiscal issues, (and often lean more liberal on social stuff). There are a lot of people not that different from me in the middle of the spectrum, trying to strike a balance between the extremes of both parties. It will be interesting to see how this choice influences our choices.

I will look into Paul Ryan a bit more now that he is running for VP. He's certainly a better choice than the Republicans trotted out last year. If Romney gets elected and if for some reason the VP has to take over, the country would be better off with Ryan than it would have been with Palin; likely even better off than with Biden.

Sorry but with Ryan, Romney lost the vote of
Women, seniors, latinos, african americans, moderate independents, etc.

Ryan did not help Romney's campaign except possibly giving Romney Wisconsin but I doubt that will even happen.

Romney already had the vote of conservatives and republicans because of their dislike of Obama politics so he needed someone that would get the moderate independent votes. I was leaning Romney, but now I will waste my vote on a third party as I can not support neither major party candidate.

it's Romney that I'm not inspired by at all. Maybe they can swap at the convention, that'd be a good ticket.

Brace yourselves for the 95% negative coverage he is going to receive. Remember Newt turning on him during the campaign after his budget was released? You'll be seeing that a lot in the near future.

    Biden....

"People look at me and say, What are you talking about, Joe? You're telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt? .....The answer is yes."

Yes, that has worked out really well hasn't it?

So the Republicans have lost the White House again!
I spent the morning reading news articles from the both the left and right leaning press. Even the tea party news site, the blaze.com shows little support for Ryan as VP in the comment sections. Most of them dislike Ryan for his congressional voting history and his social security/medicare plans. On the left, huffingtonpost.com is so happy they are wetting their pants with joy having Ryan on the ticket as they know they can not loose. Even foxnews.com has commentary saying Ryan is a bad choice.

So this leaves the repubicans no choice but to fight for house and senate seats as they lost the White House again. I see lots of this being voiced in comments on the various news sites.

Romney is a p**sy for not fighting back again Obama attacks. All he needed to do was say he would release his tax returns as soon as Obama unsealed all of his college records.

Yep, it is another sad day in America when the 2 parties both have extremist tickets. Vote libertarian!

    No, what is sad is
that anyone would say that fiscal responsibility is extreme.

    @Paul Kersey
Nobody is against fiscal responsibility, but it has to be a 2 part package with a lot of budget cuts and some tax increases. The extreme right is only for cuts in the budget and the extreme left is for only tax increases. Compromise is needed. Ryan does not believe in compromise. Romney lost the senior vote with the Ryan pick as Ryan wants to cut social security and medicare. Romney lost the womens vote by his mormon belief that says woman can not have powerful jobs and should be stay at home moms and do only minor church work. Women are NOT allowed to preach or hold office in the mormon church. Romney lost the moderate independent vote with Ryan because we see how congress is failing us by not working together and Ryan's voting record while in congress. By reading theblaze.com comments it looks like Romney has lost the tea party support by picking Ryan because Ryan voted for TARP, the bailouts, the Patriot Act or the NDAA (which removes due process) - the tea party hates all of these.

IMO Obama wins by close to 60% in November. Heck even the latest foxnews poll has Obama winning 48% to Romneys 43%.

that Dave thinks it's a great pick???Remember when Palin was picked? The right was just giddy with excitement! Ryan brings in the Right, which Mitt can't. Everyone in the middle??? It's over. When the dust settles it will be about the POTUS, not the VP. Chuck, well said. Law you should've just shut your mouth..

    Gary Johnson is my choice!
The former Libertarian Republican Governor does not attend church, is pro-choice, anti-big government, pro-immigration, an outspoken critic of the war on drugs and favors legalizing marijuana. He led New Mexico for eight years, during which time the state saw no tax increase, and he vetoed over 750 separate pieces of legislation to keep the government from growing. However, his views on civil liberties, foreign policy and drugs may be difficult for many conservatives to reconcile with.

    Yep, he gets my vote!
