The Washington State Patrol is investigating two separate rollover car crashes on I-5 early Sunday morning that sent 11 people to the hospital.
Troopers believe alcohol is a factor in both crashes.
In the first crash, witnesses reported seeing a car traveling at 80-90 mph on northbound I-5 around 3 a.m. near the Lake City Way exit before losing control of the vehicle.
Six people with injuries were taken to Harborview Medical Center. KING 5 reports the driver is under investigation for vehicular assault.
The second crash happened about two hours later on northbound I-5 near the Mercer Street exit.
Five people were taken to Harborview with injuries. The 18-year-old driver is under investigation for vehicular assault.
In addition to three more rollover crashes in King County Sunday morning, Trooper Chris Webb tweeted that the State Patrol airplane “Smokey” helped troopers stop 42 speeders on I-90 within a three-hour span.
