Seattle police have captured a violent felon accused of kidnapping his 1-month-old daughter and threatening to kill her mother in the University District earlier Tuesday.
After an hours long search, police arrested Eric Carney, 39, at a Capitol Hill apartment building just after 5 p.m. Tuesday. His infant daughter was found at the apartment unharmed.
Police say Carney approached the woman in the 5200 block of 15 Ave. N.E. just before noon, threatened her, and then grabbed a stroller with the baby inside. The woman tried to grab the stroller back, but Carney attacked her and fled with their child.
Carney had previously been ordered to have no contact with the woman.
He was last seen wearing a red shirt, camo shorts, and pink children’s backpack. He is 5’11, 260 pounds, and has “EJC” tattooed on his left arm.
Police say Carney has a history of violent crimes, auto theft and animal cruelty.
