Crash victims are usually grateful for the strangers who help them out, but not a suspected drunk rider in Everett who is still wanted by authorities.

A man riding a stolen motorcycle crashed into the back of a car on I-5 south in Everett Monday afternoon.

“The rider was ejected and passersby and witnesses ended up rushing to his aid,” says Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis.

He had flipped and skidded on the concrete and a few good Samaritans stopped to help, but the man appeared to only want to get away.

According to Francis that’s when he tried to carjack one of his good Samaritans.

“He begins to fight with a woman who was trying to help him,” says Francis. “He’s injured, he’s trying to fight with her. She’s got two kids in the car. She’s trying to keep him out of her car.”

When he was unsuccessful, he took off west on I-5.

Francis says the man ran into a neighborhood, assaulted another victim and stole his car.

Troopers believe they found the suspect’s license at the scene and identified the man they’re looking for as William Westmoreland 38, of Stanwood.
