A 26-year-old Seattle man has been arrested for making a bomb threat about a Southwest Airline flight out of Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday morning.
The suspect allegedly phoned in the threat to interrupt his ex-girlfriend’s Las Vegas-bound flight, says Sea-Tac spokesman Perry Cooper.
Port of Seattle Police, TSA and the airline decided to deplane the 737 at 5:49 a.m., soon after passengers had boarded. Passengers were loaded on a bus, returned to the terminal and re-screened at a security checkpoint, Cooper says.
Explosive detection K-9 teams searched the plane and found nothing suspicious, and passengers were allowed back on the plane. The delayed flight departed at 7:44 a.m.
After speaking with passengers, investigators were able to identify the suspect and arrest him at his home in the Lake City neighborhood. The man was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of making a bomb threat and domestic violence threats to harm.
