News Summary: Nestle 9-month sales up 4 percentOctober 17, 2013 @ 9:25 am
(AP) - SALES BUMP: Nestle, the world's biggest food and drink company, posted a 4 percent rise in sales for the first nine months of 2013, mainly thanks to demand from emerging markets.
2013 OUTLOOK: The maker of Nescafe, Jenny Craig and Haagen-Dazs said Thursday it expects sales to grow around 5 percent for the full year, excluding the impact of new acquisitions and shifts in currency values.
CONCERNS EASED: That will ease some concerns for shareholders after Nestle, based in Vevey, Switzerland, had this year cautioned it might not be able to meet its usual target of between 5 to 6 percent annual organic growth.
