$15 minimum wage could come down to Seattle voters

Apr 15, 2014, 7:28 AM | Updated: 7:37 am

Seattle voters might ultimately make the decision on whether or not to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

The group “15 Now” filed paperwork with the City of Seattle to put an initiative on the November ballot.

“Over 100,000 workers in Seattle, which is 24 percent of all workers in our city stand to be lifted out of poverty by a real $15 an hour minimum wage,” said Campaign Manager Jess Spear.

According to Spear, 15 Now will have to collect more than 30,000 signatures.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray’s task force on the minimum wage issue is expected to make its recommendations by the end of the month.
