Man surrenders after barricading himself in Seattle home with machete

Seattle police have arrested a man believed to have been armed with a machete at his South Seattle home Friday morning.

The man allegedly threatened his roommate and a friend about 2:15 a.m.

Police say two men reported a 23-year-old man was inside the home in the 1700 block of South Pearl Street. They told officers he had threatened them while holding a machete.

Officers said they made several attempts to get the suspect to come outside, even calling and talking to him on his cell phone.

The standoff lasted about five hours. The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail. The streets surrounding the residence should be reopened shortly.

No injuries were reported.
