President Obama is coming to Oso on April 22. The president talked to Suzan DelBene and Jay Inslee and he is going to come in a couple of weeks to survey the damage. Thirty-four is the official death toll with many more still missing.
I mentioned on Tuesday, the only time Obama ever comes to the Northwest is to get money. He comes and does his big fundraisers in Medina and Windermere and all over. I wonder if he’s going to do with the Oso visit what he’s doing with his Fort Hood visit.
The president attended the Fort Hood memorial Wednesday, but it has also been reported he’s going to combine that Fort Hood memorial visit with a Texas fundraiser where tickets start at $16,200 per person and go up to $64,800 for a couple. He’s going to attend that Texas fundraiser to raise money for the Democratic campaign committee in the House and the Senate.
I hope it does not happen here that the visit is combined with a fundraiser. But I’m sure the people at Fort Hood are saying the same thing about their memorial.
