Expect delays while driving through downtown Seattle this weekend due to closures on SR 99.
SR 99 is going to be shut down in both directions from Spokane Street to Denny Way from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for inspection of the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
There will be an additional SR 99 closure in both directions from Valley Street to the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel for construction. That closure starts at 10 p.m. Friday and continues until 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
At 6 a.m. on Sunday, the closure will be extended all the way up to the Woodland Park Zoo at North 50th Street for the Hot Chocolate 15/5k race which is expected to end around 11 a.m.
WSDOT also warns there may be some congestion Monday morning on SR 99 at the Denny Street on and off ramps as drivers get used to a lane reduction south of Mercer Street.
