When the 12th Man took to the streets of Seattle Sunday night, the revelers were pretty well behaved. But they did cause $25,000 in damage to the historic Pioneer Square Pergola. So in true Seattle fashion, an online fundraiser has been set up to help the Parks Department repair the structure.
“Polite or not, there was a party foul in Pioneer Square,” writes Amanda Gallagher Quinn, organizer of the effort on the crowdfunding site gofundme. “Let’s give the Parks Department some help in replacing the things we broke and show that the Seahawks truly have the best fans in the league,” she wrote.
The campaign references the hashtag #HowSeattleRiots, a tongue-in-cheek Internet meme that sprung up soon after the game when video surfaced of revelers waiting for a green light before continuing across the street in Ballard.
