A legend of Seahawks past will be cheering for more than just his fellow Seahawk comrades Super Bowl Sunday, as his son-in-law is also among those taking the field.

Former Seahawks defensive end Jacob Green will be watching his son-in-law Red Bryant, who happens to be a current defensive end for the Hawks, take on the Broncos.

“It’s fun to watch him,” Green tells KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson. “I’m proud of him, the way he’s handled it, the way he’s played, the leadership that he provides on the field.”

Green says he wasn’t always such a big fan of Bryant’s, when his daughter first brought him home, he says he didn’t love him right away.

“As a father, you’re always protective of your daughters,” says Green. “He was a great young man, you just always keep your eye on them.”

But Bryant eventually won him over, and now he says if his other two daughters find as good a match he’ll be pleased.

“He’s a great young man,” says Green. “You couldn’t ask for a better son-in-law than him.”

Being able to watch his son-in-law play, and watching this whole Super Bowl-bound team’s run has been a fantastic joyride Green says.

“They are true champions. It’s been a fun ride for me,” says Green. “It’s just amazing to be a part of, just witnessing everything.”
