From about the first meeting of the Seahawks this season, tight end Zach Miller said they had the goal of winning the NFC West. They made their way one game at a time and last week were crowned NFC Champions.
KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson says what impressed him the most in postgame interviews was the team was very businesslike and didn’t look overly confident.
“I think everyone has always had a ‘What’s next?’ attitude,” said Miller. “I think every guy on this team knows there’s another game next.”
And of course, the next game for Seattle is the Super Bowl. The players, none of whom have ever competed in a Super Bowl, acknowledge they have a lot to do to prepare for next Sunday’s game.
“All the tips we got were really learn the stuff now, study now, so that when we get there, we can deal with the distractions as best as possible,” says Miller.
The team’s new goal is to come away with a Super Bowl win, and that means working as hard as they have all season and staying focused.
“I think this team, all year, has never been satisfied,” says Miller. “It really is a focus of ours to always really keep improving throughout the year and never be complacent. We’re always working best-on-best, ones against ones in practice, and have a focus each practice about what we’re trying to get done.”
The time for celebration for these guys will be when the final game of the year concludes on Feb. 2, says Miller. Hopefully with a Seahawks win.
“Then we’ll be happy and celebrate,” he says.
