A young fan has something in common with a Seattle Seahawk. They both like sports – and they both wear hearing aids.
Fullback Derrick Coleman is a the first legally deaf offensive player in the NFL.
The author of the letteris The young fan’s dad posted her letter to Twitter that called Coleman “my insperation.”
Coleman provided a touching response via Twitter too, shown below.
Author of the letter, 9-year-old Riley Kovalcik’s dad, Jake, told the Morning News on KIRO Radio that since Riley read Coleman’s response she’s become completely enamored with him.
“We just really, truly appreciate him taking those minutes to (respond to Riley’s letter),” said Jake. “He’s really showing kids out there, not just deaf kids or kids with other disabilities – really every kid with a dream that if you really work hard and you really put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. He’s really a hero. It’s amazing.”
