The Seahawks’ Richard Sherman has now apologized for his outspoken and emotional post-game interview ripping San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree following Seattle’s 23-17 win over the 49ers.
The tirade quickly went viral worldwide, as Sherman shouted “I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s what you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me! Don’t you open your mouth about the best! Or I am going to shut it for you real quick! LOB [Legion of Boom].”
There’s been plenty of criticism and defense of Sherman’s comments. He softened his stance just a bit in subsequent interviews and apologized to interviewer Erin Andrews. But Monday afternoon, Sherman reportedly issued his first real apology.
ESPN’s Ed Werder said on Twitter that Sherman told him he was sorry:
Seahawks CB @RSherman_25 tells me just now he regrets putting himself ahead of his team with postgame remarks: “I apologize for attacking ..

More @RSherman_25: “attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates. That was not my intent.''

Interestingly, while Sherman told Werder he was sorry, the veteran sports journalist defended Sherman in a previous tweet.
I don't understand media criticism of @RSherman_25 for giving the opinion for which he was asked. Prefer that to players who don't cooperate
