The Seahawks’ Richard Sherman has now apologized for his outspoken and emotional post-game interview ripping San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree following Seattle’s 23-17 win over the 49ers.

The tirade quickly went viral worldwide, as Sherman shouted “I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s what you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me! Don’t you open your mouth about the best! Or I am going to shut it for you real quick! LOB [Legion of Boom].”

There’s been plenty of criticism and defense of Sherman’s comments. He softened his stance just a bit in subsequent interviews and apologized to interviewer Erin Andrews. But Monday afternoon, Sherman reportedly issued his first real apology.

ESPN’s Ed Werder said on Twitter that Sherman told him he was sorry:

Interestingly, while Sherman told Werder he was sorry, the veteran sports journalist defended Sherman in a previous tweet.
