Shoreline police have arrested two would-be Grinches caught with about 1,000 packages stolen from people’s doorsteps.
Officers spotted the duo driving a stolen car late in the evening of Dec. 12 and pulled them over. The pair tried to run, but police captured and arrested them.
When they looked in the car, it was stuffed with packages, said King County sheriff’s deputy BJ Myers.
“There were FedEx boxes and Amazon boxes and others still with labels on them packed in the car,” he said.
Detectives have been able to use tracking numbers and packing slips to reunite many of the packages with their intended recipients. But they’d like to hear from anyone else who was a victim of package theft, or possibly witnessed one of the thefts. Anyone with information can email detectives, Cary.Coblantz@kingcounty.gov.
The thefts aren’t unique. A number of package thefts have been reported around the Puget Sound area in the last week, Myers said.
Charges against the two Grinches are pending.
