Still a chance of snow across Puget Sound

Dec 2, 2013, 6:21 AM | Updated: Dec 3, 2013, 9:28 am

Forecasters expect freezing temperatures for the next week in Washington.

The National Weather Service says highs may barely reach the freezing mark with lows dropping into the teens in Western Washington as an arctic front moves south through the area.

In Eastern Washington, highs may not get out of the 20s on some days and lows will be in the single digits.

Forecasters say there’s a slight chance of snow on Thursday and the possibility of snow late in the weekend or early next week when the snow level drops.

The National Weather Service says the snow level will be a few hundred feet above sea level and accumulations could be between a half inch to two inches. Low temperatures will hover in the 20s to 30s.

A period of cold, dry air will follow the scattered showers.

A wind advisory will remain in effect for areas of Whatcom County and the San Juans through Tuesday morning. Forecasters say wind chills there could be around 10 degrees.

Scattered snow showers were reported Monday in Everett and Bellingham early in the evening commute. Seattle residents reported a rain/snow mix and short periods of sleet.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
