Why the Boeing tax breaks aren’t fair

I don’t particularly have a problem with Boeing getting tax breaks because if we don’t keep Boeing here, other states will entice them and lure them away.
Here’s what I do have a gripe with: You know who else needs tax breaks besides Boeing? You do. And Jake does. And I do.
We all need tax breaks, but we can’t get the Legislature to call a special session to give us tax breaks. All they ever ever talk about in Olympia, for you and me, is how much they can raise our taxes.
In fact, they are going to propose massive tax hikes for all of us.
It does bug me that Boeing can threaten to leave and they immediately call a special session, they immediately, in committee, say 10-3 yes, give Boeing tax breaks. But they never, ever do that for you and me.
Again, I’m not opposed to tax breaks for Boeing. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me. I’m for lower taxes for businesses and for individuals. The problem is the individuals never get tax breaks.
All they do is ratchet up and increase the taxes on all of us – and that’s what’s not right. That’s not fair about what’s going on right now with Boeing.
Let’s keep Boeing here. Let’s keep those jobs in the Puget Sound area. I’m all for that, but let’s also give tax breaks to the average citizen.
