Police in Seattle are investigating the death of a pedestrian hit by a King County Metro bus Monday morning.

Officers blocked off the area surrounding the fatal collision, in the 1100 block of East Pine Street near Cal Anderson Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

KIRO Radio’s Chris Sullivan reported from the scene that it appeared the pedestrian was run over and dragged by the bus. Arriving officers found the man’s body in the street behind the bus.

The victim appears to be an adult male, according to police.

The man was crossing East Pine Street in the middle of the block, not at the crosswalk.

Bus routes 10 and 11 in both directions were rerouted past the scene of the accident.

The events leading up to collision are unknown, but there were three people on the bus at the time; however, it doesn’t appear any of the passengers witnessed the accident.

KIRO Radio’s Chris Sullivan and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
