KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) - Here is a selection of quotes from competitors in the first ever Olympic ski jump event for women, on how it felt to make history on Tuesday:
"It's amazing. I'm the first woman Olympic champion in ski jumping." _ Gold medal winner Carina Vogt.
"Girls are much more capable than people give them credit for, a lot of the time. And I think that we've shown that tonight. We've shown we belong here, and we put on a great show" _ Jessica Jerome, from Park City, Utah, who placed 10th.
"This is so cool ... I think I will be very proud when I'm older" _ Line Jahr, Norway, age 20. Placed 9th.
"We put on an awesome show tonight and the world really saw what we have been working for" _ Sarah Hendrickson, Park City, Utah, placed 21st.
"Best experience ever ... Our sport is going forward and is never going to be the same. And we can call ourselves Olympians now. And I couldn't do that yesterday" _ Lindsey Van, Park City, Utah, placed 15th.
"This competition showed everyone that we totally deserve to be at the Olympics" _ Maren Lundby, Norway.
